I rented here from 11/2012 until 08/2013. On the day we moved in, we were told we were signing a lease for the exact same townhome we had walked through... that was the first lie.
The day we signed in, the stove and fridge were both non-functional and filthy. The toilet upstairs was overflowing. Several of the outlets and one lightswitch didn't even work.
We tried so hard to get out of the lease but were unsuccessful.
We complained at least twice a week for the next 9 months about the leaking ceilings and bad plumbing and nothing was fixed.
Finally, in late August, my husband and I spent a weekend with family in Ogden. We got back to the townhouse at 11PM on Sunday. ALL of the doors and windows were wide open, and as soon as we got out of the car, the smell of damp mold hit us.
The apartment was totally flooded on both floors. All furniture and books and guitars... ruined. We also discovered that the flood began on Friday night, and the maintenance guys had left all our doors and windows open all weekend. No one called to tell us. In addition to the flood, we also had over $6000 worth of stuff stolen because our apartment was left totally open to everyone. our non-water damaged items were left where they lay. Thank God for Allstate, who had us covered.
But Gisela Moyer argued with me, first saying we had to finish out our lease in a trashed apartment, then that we still had to pay at least September's rent. We didn't in the end, after we had an attorney call her. But she made it a month-long hassle just to get our deposit back.
Stay far away. It's cheap, but it is an honest-to-God ghetto with a slumlord running it.
