The apartment complex itself isnât too bad, but our unit was clearly a âlandlord special.â The baseboards were painted over, the flooring was poorly installed, and some light switches were mounted over old ones to cover them up. However, the condition of the apartment wasnât the biggest issue for me.
They initially showed us a model unit that we really liked it so we ended up signing a lease to a unit we couldnât see immediately because it was being cleanedâ. only to find out when we moved in that the layout was completely different and it felt much smaller than the unit they showed us initially nothing really looked like the apartment we initially saw, but since we had already paid all the initiation fees, we couldnât really complain. We were kind of stuck with it.
They advertise affordable prices and special deals, but the amount of fees they charge is outrageous. On top of rent, youâre hit with community fees, trash fees, and other random charges, although they advertise rent for around the $1300 you will be for sure paying close to the $1700 all together monthly.
Their utility system is also frustratingâthey split gas and other utilities across the entire building (itâs not a very clear system). For example, during the spring, we didnât use the AC or heater, but we were still charged high gas fees while living in a small two-bedroom apartment.
The cleanliness of the property is another concern. The parking lot often has trash, cigarette butts, and other debris that never gets picked up. Noise is also an issue, with loud neighbors day and night and no enforcement of noise regulations. Additionally, there isnât a single grassy area in the complex for walking your dog. There is a designated dog area, but itâs constantly full of waste and never cleaned, despite the monthly fees you pay for.
When it came time to end our lease, I requested clear move-out instructions from management. All they told me via email was that we shouldnât leave anything behind, they provided no further guidance. A couple of weeks after moving out, I received a large bill in the mail with a list of extra charges for move-out costs that were never communicated or established, when I requested the move out instructions. This felt incredibly frustrating, as it seemed like they intentionally withheld some information just to pile on more fees.
Management is slow to respond to emails and lacks clear communication about expectations. On the positive side, maintenance is quick and effective when you submit a request. The location is convenient, but honestly, itâs not worth the price for what you get.
